there is actually more than that. Black quinoa is amazing (and amazingly expensive!)
I cook my quinoa completely different.
2 cups quinoa
3 cups water
Bring your water to a boil (you can use stock or broth instead) . Wash your quinoa THOROUGHLY. It contains saponins that will make it bitter or cause some tummy issues. I put it in a big bowl with cold water and kinda rub it between my hands and rinse one more time.
Once your water is boiling, add the quinoa and stir, continue to cook over medium high with a lid on for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes stir it again and it should be mostly water free. Reduce heat to low or medium low (depends on your stove). and cook another 5-10 minutes until all the water is gone and the grains are fluffy. Fluff them up nicely and serve.
Never had issues with it not tasting good or being crunchy or whatever.
Wish u would have finished the dish….;((((
example of popular canadian brand "Mastro olive oil and other products, was convicted of three offences under the Food and Drugs Act and was ordered to pay a total fine of $150,000 and ordered 47,400 liters of seized oil to be disposed of. One more time, half of the oil sold as olive oil was actually sunflower type. The CFIA reported that in 2007, 15 of 45 samples of extra-virgin olive oil taken from Canadian store shelves and tested in Ottawa’s lab had been adulterated with sunflower, canola and soybean oils or refined pomace oil."
How about millet?
Wild rice is nice and hearty and yummy. I wonder if it's high in protein, too?
Thank you sooo much for showing how to prepare the quinoa. I would see it in the health food store, but I was not sure just what to do with it. By the way you look radiant and I am please to see you back!!
There is also black quinoa but it feels like thewing on grit imo 🙂
I think is better since Quinoa is a seed not a grain. =)
I soak mine- tastes better and it is fluffier.
i read you should soak the quinoa at least over night before cooking it.
